Our Story
Service Sisters was founded in 2019. When I was in 5th grade, my school started requiring service hours. Several of my friends joined a National Charity organization to complete their hours, but I wasn’t able to. So, I decided to make my own. That same year, my family started volunteering for a charity that supports homeless families. I really enjoyed spending time helping those families, especially the kids. As time went on, I found more and more organizations and activities that needed support. I decided that it would be a lot more fun and more time efficient to recruit my friends to help me. So, I started bringing my friends with me to help with my charity work. It was a win for everyone, the charities got more help, my friends met their service requirements without having to look for organizations in need, and I had more fun doing service. Service hours became less duty and more fun. Now I have a portfolio of organizations that regularly need support and a large resource of teens to pair them with.
Service Sisters has volunteered making lunch bags for summer camps, school shopping with homeless kids, organizing holiday parties, hosting Easter egg hunts, making Easter baskets, hosting Halloween Trunk & Treats, chaperoning dances, delivering toiletries to shelters, food packing for Guatemalan families, serving Thanksgiving dinner, tutoring, making arts & crafts, gift wrapping and other activities for various charitable organizations.
The goal is to pair teens with organizations and create an environment where service becomes less about work and more about fun for all.
